Court orders for corrections of erroneous personal property assessments due to the assessors' error, 1928.

On 22 March 1922 the General Assembly passed an act concerning the correction of erroneous tax assessments. The assessors applied to the local court for a correction order that contained the names of the taxpayers erroneously assessed; the page, line, date, and nature of the book or roll in which the assessments were made; and the error to be corrected. Copies of the order were certified by the court and sent to the auditor of public accounts and to the local treasurer.

This is an artificial collection of records assembled from several sources, including governor's office letters received, Gereral Assembly records, and the office of the auditor of public accounts. Because most of the records appear to have been removed from the auditor's office, the collection has been shelved with the auditor's records pending further study.
